HOW TO IMPROVE GAY PROJECT SERVICES
#1
For the benefit of all our English-speaking readers, I am pleased to mention here that the first Gay Project sites (in Italian) started on August 30th 2007, almost 11 years ago. The initiative, absolutely non-profit and without ideological purposes of any kind, intended to provide Italian-speaking homosexuals with the possibility of dialog and serious information through the Internet. In the first years of Gay Project, a small community was established, which met from time to time in Rome. In this way the dialog and the comparison could come out of the virtual dimension and be realized face to face. So many beautiful friendships have been created that are destined to last.

A new fact, that is the advent of social media, has, however, exerted its heavy influence on Gay Project. The Internet has progressively been identified with social media and the forum era has slowly set, fewer and fewer users have joined the forum, both Project chat and forum seemed outdated tools, but those tools guaranteed privacy and had a filter function: users of Gay Project were few but selected, and they were certainly not those who were looking for easy sex on erotic chats and dating sites.

Gay Project then tried to overcome the difficulties through the Gay Project Library, where Italian-speaking users were offered works of fiction and poetry on gay themes and also translations of basic works of the history of homosexuality. A particular place in the Gay Project Library belongs to the Manual "Being Gay" (in Italian) http://gayproject.altervista.org/manuale...ualita.pdf  which illustrates the fundamental issues concerning homosexuality on the basis of the rich documentation collected through Gay Project. The book (850 pages), downloadable for free, has exceeded 7500 downloads. Recently the English translation of the Manual has been published (work in progress) http://gayproject.altervista.org/be_gay.pdf  Translation work takes a long time and we will try to carry it out with commitment.
We often ask ourselves what to do in order not to drop Project Gay into oblivion and this tread is dedicated to looking for answers.
